Why Local Ownership Still Matters in Pool Service

In recent years, we’ve noticed a shift happening across the pool service industry, and it’s something that directly impacts homeowners.

Many long-standing local pool companies have been bought or merged into much larger corporate groups, often backed by private equity firms. On paper, this can look like growth and progress. But for customers, the experience can sometimes feel very different.

Homeowners often tell us they’ve noticed changes like:

  • Slower or more difficult communication
  • Questions needing multiple approvals before answers are given
  • Service feeling less personal
  • Customers feeling more like account numbers than neighbors

This often happens when decisions are made far from the communities being served.

We also understand why some companies choose this path. Private equity firms frequently approach local businesses with opportunities to merge, gain financial backing, and scale quickly. The focus typically becomes rapid expansion, higher volume, and eventually selling the company.

That simply isn’t the direction we’ve chosen.

We remain locally owned, with owners actively involved in daily operations, and we grow intentionally at a pace that allows us to protect service quality. When something goes wrong, it matters to us personally. Our reputation matters. The experience you have with our company matters.

We intentionally limit how many pools our technicians service each day because quality declines when people are rushed. We invest in training, communication, and realistic workloads. This approach can make us slightly more expensive than some options, but it allows us to provide consistent service, accountability, and attention to detail.

At the end of the day, anyone can skim leaves or balance chemicals. What truly sets a pool company apart is how they communicate, how they respond when something goes wrong, and how much pride they take in their work.

If your pool service doesn’t feel the way it used to, or you’ve noticed changes since your provider was sold or merged, we want you to know that locally owned options still exist, and many of us continue to prioritize service over volume.

As always, we appreciate the trust you place in us and the opportunity to care for your pool.
